Marianas High School Marianas High School General Information Marianas High School is located on the island of Saipan, which is part of a 15 island chain that makeup the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands (CNMI), located in the Western Pacific. The CNMI is a commonwealth of the United States with all the benefits, rights and privilegesof a United States commonwealth. Tourists from Japan, Korea, China, Russia, Australia and other areas support the islands main industry--tourism. The CNMI offers its guests and residents numeorus activities such as water sports, beach activities, hiking adventures, and historical tours. MHS is part of the CNMI Public School System that serves over 10,000 students in 19 schools across three islands. School Marianas High School is a comprehensive four-year public high school enrolling over 1600 students in grades 9 through 12. Established in 1969,MHS has the largest student population with over 1600 students. Thestudent population isa blend of students from the CNMI and the Micronesian islands, the Republicof Palau, theMarshall Islands, the Philippines, Japan, Korea, China, Thailand, Bangladesh, and the U.S. Mainland. We believe our beauty is in our diversity and our strength in the mutual respect that unifies us in our Team Effort Towards Excellence. Curriculum The academic program is organized on ablock schedule. Five (5) credits per semester is the maximum course load. Students take five 60-minute block classes with 5 regular classes daily. Language Arts and Math classes are year-long courses.Currently, MHS offers 6 Advanced Placement Courses and that are offered in the following: Biology, Chemistry, Calculus, Statistics, English Language Composition, English Literature and Composition, Psychology, World History and U.S. Government (United States and Comparative).All of our teaching staff must possess at least a bachelors degree andmaintain a current teachingcertification.
